M.C.T. earpieces are
great for high frequency losses and other losses not greater than 60db at 1kHz.
Minimum Contact Technology or M.C.T.'s
are superior to conventional earpieces, which would be selected for the fitting range as follows:
Great for high-frequency losses and other losses not greater than 60db
at 1kHz. All but eliminates the "voice
in the barrel" (occlusion effect) problem. Requires
less venting, therby reducing the risk of acoustic feedback. Reduces contact with the walls of the ear canal for increased comfort. If canal retention and/or patient dexterity are not a problem most M.C.T.'s
will be made as a canal only, producing a more cosmetically appealing mold.
The canal length in M.C.T. impressions must be 15mm to 20mm.
